Festive Afternoon Tea at The Inn at Belfairs

We visited the beautiful restaurant at The Inn at Belfairs at Leigh on Sea in Essex to try out their Festive afternoon tea. We have previously visited for their wonderful traditional afternoon tea. The restaurant is situated on the outskirts of the picturesque Belfairs park. A pretty restaurant that offers a great food menu including afternoon teas and a selection of breakfasts, lunches, dinners and Sunday roasts.

At The Inn at Belfairs you will be greeted with the most beautiful array of cherry blossom trees, floral displays and a stunning canopy of flowers. At Christmas time, Christmas Trees are added and pretty festive decor. It really is stunning. They have a terrace and a garden to enjoy alfresco dining in the warmer months and host a number of Firepit nights in Winter. It really does make the prettiest spot to enjoy a Christmas afternoon tea. This is why they feature on our list of ‘The Best Christmas Afternoon Teas in Essex‘. The also feature on our list of The Best Afternoon Teas in Essex.

The Savouries

This Festive afternoon tea is an afternoon tea with a difference! Without a finger sandwich in sight, instead you receive a selection of generously topped festive crostinis. The flavours included:

  • Turkey & Stuffing in a Cranberry Mayonnaise
  • Brie, Spring Onion & Pecan with A Thyme Dressing
  • Prawn & Diced Beetroot with A Marie Rose Sauce

The Prawn and beetroot was a big surprise as it is an unusual flavour combination but it was really good and was my favourite from the three! They were all really delicious and packed with flavour and the crostinis kept their crunch which was nice. Alongside these you receive a homemade Festive Scotch Egg with Pork Sausage Meat, Bacon Lardons, Chestnuts & Cranberry and the most delicious savoury muffin! The scotch egg was absolutely delicious. This was such a generous portion for the savoury selection, you will not go home hungry!

The Sweet Stuff:

The savouries were followed by huge home made scones, served with plenty of clotted cream and Tiptree Jam. They were lovely and soft inside. Alongside your scones, you receive a gorgeous array of sweet treats including:

  • Baileys & White Chocolate Cheesecake with a Belgium Chocolate Sauce
  • Ginger & Orange Cake with a Sticky Orange Syrup
  • Chocolate Honeycomb Cupcake with Chocolate Buttercream and Honeycomb Chunks
  • All Butter Cinnamon Shortbread with Brandy Drizzle

This is an excellent selection of sweet treats, the Baileys cheesecake packed a punch and was deliciously creamy. I also really enjoyed the cinnamon shortbread, it tasted just like Christmas. There was so much food that we had to take some home in a box!

The atmosphere at The Inn at Belfairs restaurant is truly breathtaking, creating the ideal setting for a festive Christmas afternoon tea. It stands out as one of the most charming venues in Essex. What sets their festive afternoon tea apart, is the inclusion of crostinis instead of the traditional finger sandwiches, accompanied by delectable savoury options especially those scotch eggs!
