Afternoon Tea at Heidi’s Runwell

In Essex we are spoilt for choice for wonderful afternoon teas and Heidi’s based at St Lukes Park in Runwell is no exception. A pretty and modern pink cafe, with a cherry tree in the centre and floral decorations throughout. It really is a beautiful spot to enjoy an afternoon tea in Essex with loved ones. They feature on our list of the ‘Best Afternoon Teas in Essex‘ and rightfully so, I had a wonderful experience at Heidi’s!

BY DAY they offer:

Afternoon Tea along with an array of hand crafted sweet treats, delicious food and freshly prepared coffee.

BY NIGHT they offer…

From 6pm on Wednesday through to Saturdays, they offer Bottomless Pizza. It is hand-stretched, stone baked with an array of toppings including BBQ Chicken, Feta, Rocket & Balsamic Glaze, Pepperoni and much more. This is brilliant value and I recommend checking it out!

This place blew me away, the prettiest of venues and a wonderful afternoon tea to suit!

The Savouries

Our afternoon tea arrived on a traditional three tier cake stand. On the bottom tier were a lovely selection of freshly made sandwiches, which were well filled in a mix of breads. The bread was incredibly fresh and was really delicious. We received ham, egg mayonnaise & chicken and bacon in mayo, alongside these we received brioche buns filled with smoked salmon & cream cheese and cheese & pickle. We also received a lovely mini quiche. The brioche rolls were divine and my particular favourite from the savouries. This was a a great selection and really good portion size. It was absolutely delicious.

The Sweet Stuff

For the middle tier we each received two warm home baked scones, one plain and one fruit. They came with Rodda’s clotted cream and strawberry jam. The scones were delicious, dusted in icing sugar with a wonderful flavour and incredibly soft inside. We also received a selection of fresh fruit and heart chocolates, which was a nice addition. If you are a lover of scones, you will not be disappointed with these.

The top tier we received a delicious array of cakes. We each received a chocolate cupcake, mini chocolate brownie, mini victoria sponge and macaroons. The victora sponge in particular was my favourite, it was so moist. There were so many lovely treats, that we got to take some home to enjoy later!
