Savouries

The Festive afternoon tea at and includes a selection of festive sandwiches, they included: turkey & stuffing, egg mayonnaise, brie & cranberry and smoked salmon and dill creme fraiche. They come on a selection of breads and are well filled and very fresh. You receive 4 fingers per person.

The Sweet Stuff

The desserts included in the Festive afternoon tea are a real treat, they are excellently themed. I received the most adorable Snowmen and a very cute Christmas pudding. The desserts included a white chocolate yule log, meringue snowman, dark chocolate and coffee delice and a traditional Christmas cake. The meringue snowman and the white yule log were my favourite. I do love white chocolate and these tasted simply amazing!

Included in our afternoon tea were two warm scones each, one raisin and cranberry scone and one plain. They were freshly baked in house, with a wonderful crunch on top but soft inside and have such a nice flavour. These were really good scones with lashings of clotted cream and Tiptree jam.

A selection of loose leaf teas or cafetiere of coffee in included and you can upgrade to mulled wine, prosecco or Champagne.

My thoughts on the festive afternoon tea at The County Hotel

I love visiting The County Hotel, the Samphire Restaurant has a very nice feel to it and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. Their festive afternoon tea features on my list of The Best Christmas Afternoon Teas in Essex and it absolutely deserves its place. The perfectly themed festive cakes were stars of the show for me and were absolutely delicious, closely followed by those wonderful scones. I had such a lovely time, you will not be disappointed and it is very reasonably priced at £25 per person.
